Our teachers and directors cooperatively work together to prepare our learning environment. They bring many different strengths to our school and combine their talents to help Magothy develop and grow. Our Team are all CPR/ First Aide certified and attend professional development annually.
Sarah is the teacher of the Flying Friends (W/Th/F PreK). She has her 90 hour Early Childhood Certification and a B.S. in Finance and Accounting. Sarah started as a parent at Magothy in 2021. Before that she spent eight years as a preschool teacher using the Exploring Nature with Children curriculum in Virginia before moving to Maryland.
Sarah was the lead teacher for the Froggy Friends class in the 22 -24 school years. Sarah has been a teacher for 10 years focusing on play based learning in nature. She loves gardening, Diet Coke, paddle boarding and tending to her many animals and children (four kids, seven pets!) What Sarah loves most is the community at Magothy and the opportunity to be a small piece of your child’s world.
Kristin is the teacher of the Finned Friends (3/4 class) and Feathered Friends (M/T/ W PreK). Kristin has her 90 hour Early Childhood Certification and a B.A. in Biology. Kristin started as a parent at Magothy in 2010. She was the teacher assistant for the Feathered Friend class in the 2012-2013 school year and has been the lead teacher for Finned Friends since then. Kristin has been an educator with Living Classrooms Foundation for two decades and the science teacher at Masonville Cove Environmental Education Center where she taught preschoolers about their natural world. She loves cooking, running, and being a mom of two growing boys. Kristin loves the children, our community and our commitment to providing a play-based and outdoor curriculum for our students.
Lindsay is the teacher of the Farm , Forest and Fauna Friends. She is also our school Director. Lindsay has her BA in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from the College of Notre Dame of MD. She also holds a MA in Reading Specialties from Walden University. Lindsay also has a MD Educator Certificate for PreK- Middle School. After a decade teaching kindergarten in Baltimore County Lindsay stepped out of the classroom to be at home with her two children. In 2013 she joined Magothy as a parent and quickly fell in love with the teaching model and team. In 2015 Lindsay joined the teaching team. She loves Magothy because children’s innate curiosity for learning and discovery through play is respected and protected at Magothy.
Kenny is our Teacher Assistant for the Feathered & Flying Friends. After spending time in the classroom as a parent, Kenny has gone back to school, and is working on a teaching degree. At Magothy, he provides support for our teachers by leading small groups and helping children make the transition from home to school. He came to Magothy as a parent in 2011. Kenny is a parent of three children. He enjoys scuba diving, bike riding, hiking and camping. Kenny says that he loves working at Magothy because he feels he is making a difference.
Kim is our Teacher Assistant for the Fauna, Forest and Farm Friends. Kim has been a TA at Magothy since 2010. Kim was a parent in our school before joining our staff. She served in leadership roles at Magothy as a parent. She provides support for our teachers by leading small groups and helping children make the transition from home to school. Ms. Kim is known for her soft heart and warm hugs. Kim loves crossword puzzles, reading, and cooking. Her daughter, now a college graduate, attended Magothy as a preschooler. When asked what she loves about Magothy, she said “What don’t I love about Magothy!”
Cat is our Teacher Assistant for Finned Friends and often floats into all of the classes. Cat has a B. S. in Communication from Syracuse University and a M.S. in Human Services /Community Counseling from SUNY Oswego. Cat joined the MCPS family as a parent in the spring of 2017; she joined the staff in the fall of 2018. Cat is the mama of two school aged boys. She loves to go on field trips, to explore new places, to read, and to hang out with awesome people. Her favorite part of the cooperative is the atmosphere of support and love that is fostered by the MCP family.
Jen is our Assistant Teacher in Farm Friends. She has 4 children and her family has been a part of the Magothy community since 2016 when her third child started in Flying Friends. Jen always loved helping out in the classroom. One of her fondest Magothy moments was when her youngest got to hold a baby chick that a family brought in to share. Before joining Magothy, she spent many years as a stay at home parent and military spouse. Jen earned a B.A. in Psychology with a concentration in Child & Adolescent Development in 2020. Once her youngest went to full-time school, she spent 3 years with AACPS as a teaching assistant for both special education and kindergarten. In 2024, she chose to leave AACPS to homeschool her special needs child. Jen is passionate about meeting children where they are and providing what she can to make learning a positive experience. In her free time, she enjoys cross stitch, embroidery, bird watching, video games, cooking, and gardening. Jen's favorite part about Magothy is how the teachers are committed to creating an engaging, yet calm, space for all to enjoy and create memories for years to come.
Dave is our assistant director, helping out with the administrative tasks of the school. Dave has a B.A of Philosophy from UMBC. He has been part of the Magothy community since his oldest child started in 2012, and served on the board of directors for 5 years. After his children moved on to elementary school he decided to stay at Magothy. Dave enjoys designing and playing board games, gardening, and cooking. His favorite part of Magothy is how the community comes together to make everything happen.
Dani holds a B.S. in Veterinary Science From University of Arizona, Clear CLAD Teaching Credential (teaching second language learners) from National University, GATE Certified, and Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Chapman University. She taught kindergarten for 3 years and third grade for 9 years in California before joining Magothy in 2012. Dani lead the Flying Friends class from 2012-2024. While Dani has now relocated she continues to lend her talents to Magothy through curriculum and teacher support. Dani's favorite thing about Magothy how we children our encouraged to be their own person.
